Frei Manuel do Cenáculo National Museum, in Évora, is located at the former Episcopal Palace, next to the Cathedral. Its origins go back to 1804, when the archbishop Frei Manuel do Cenáculo, an eclectic collector, created in Évora the Public Library, where he also assembled an art collection. Officially, the museum was born in 1915, in the former archbishop’s palace. The museum’s collection assembles about 20,000 objects, including archaeology, painting, sculpture, drawing, jewellery, ceramics, furniture and textiles, as well as a collection of natural sciences, Naturalia.

summer 10am-6pm
Closed on Monday.
It also closes on January 1, Easter Sunday, May 1, June 29 and December 25.
